On May 10, 2022, A celebration was held at Our Lady of Peace Cathedral in Honolulu, Hawaii to open the diocesan inquiry phase of the cause of servant of God Joseph Dutton. This represents the initial phase for the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of Servant of God, Joseph Dutton, Layman. The Apostolic Nuncio of the United States, Archbishop Christophe Pierre along with many priests and deacons were present for the celebration.
